Black worms are grown under cover, either in large sheds or in outside raceways covered with metal lids. The farm has the equivalent of 300 troughs, 6 metres long, half a metre wide and a half metre deep. Over one megalitre of water is pumped through each system every 24 hours to ensure the best growth rate and quality. The worms are fed 2 to 3 times a week, depending on the time of year, with a high protein commercially made pellet, similar to a trout pellet.

Worms are harvested every week, with each trough producing, on average, 6 kgs of worms every 5 to 6 weeks. Once harvested the worms are purged, washed and sieved before being dispatched to wholesalers throughout Australia.
